～Strongly supporting introduction of Stability computer mandatory to equip onboard～

Japan, President: Akihito Tsukamoto CEO.], hereafter EXA will release a new version of loading computer “LOADCAL®” newly equipped with damage stability function as standard which has become mandatory for international voyage vessels on existing top brand loading computer “LOADCAL®” having 30 year history.
「LOADCAL®」is a loading computer with such software as evaluating ships’ safety and strength under sailing. EXA has a long experience since 1988 in loading computer development, counting more than 1700 loading computer installations and recently keeps about 100 annual outputs and 30% domestic market share.
According to Resolution MEPC.248(66) adopted on 4 April, 2014 by the 66th session of Marine Environment Protection Committee(MEPC66) of IMO, IMO has adopted guidelines and applicable IMO Code amendments for the mandatory carriage of damage stability verification instruments (software, computers, etc.) onboard all (new and existing) tankers including oil tankers, chemical tankers and gas carriers beginning in January 2016. And also in Maritime Safety Committee 93rd session of IMO (MSC93), the amendment to SOLAS was adopted in May 2014 with the same meaning.
In order to conform to the new rules, EXA has released a new version “LOADCAL®” with damage stability function attached as standard which was optional before.
EXA can also offer facility in obtaining class approval, not only for new vessels but for such existing vessels as have no damage stability function by adding functions, preparing necessary documents for approval and making applications as agent.
Therefore, clients can easily make loading computers conform to new rules.
■ Key features of “LOADCAL®”
- Clients can immediately operate the system after installed without any special instructions since it has realized intuitive operations.
- Quick judgement is possible since it meets all the requirements including flag administrations and classification societies.
- The program has the Onboard IPCA of Class NK built in as calculation engine.
- The program has great flexibility as is able to be tailored to various requirements by experienced naval architects.
EXA has a unique knowledge and experience in loading computer development together with ship design knowledge and many shipbuilding system know-how as a system integrator of the shipbuilding department of NKK. EXA will from now on continue the effort in satisfying client needs in the field of IT-mounted or intelligent vessels, increasing economical performance of ship operation, safe ship operation, marine environment protection and enhancing ship design with the state-of-the-art IT technology.
